Last Sunday IEBP kicked off week two of their Spring Developmental League held at Rialto High School. This league allows all the players to sharpen up their skills in order to be prepared for the tough tournament season ahead. All the players played well, however here are few that stood out in Sunday’s show.
Malik Fitts 6’5 2015 (Damien HS)
Malik Fitts showed that he’s ready to play. With his athleticism and quickness up and down the court, Fitts proved to be a valuable asset to the team defensively and offensively. Fitts crashed the boards pulling down several rebounds, attacked the basket, was able to shoot with range from the 3-point line, and even had a few slams during his day. Fitts has a strong opportunity to become a dominant player in the county
Jamarl Baker Jr. 6’2 2017 (Roosevelt HS)
Jamarl Baker Jr. had a very productive Sunday as well. Baker showed that it would take someone with quick feet to stay in front of him. Jamarl showed his abilities as a point guard by his crisp ball handling skills along with his court vision, often finding teammates without them even having to call for the ball. However, Baker also knew when to take over, and showed his ability to drive to the basket, easily getting around some defenders.
Mitch Lenhart 6’1 2014 (Murrieta Valley HS)
Mitch Lenhart showcased his ability to create shots from himself either off the dribble or by attacking the basket. Lenhart was able to direct the flow of the game as a point guard, as all good point guards should. Mitch Lenhart will be a high priority in county ball.
Darrion Willies 6’4 2015 (Summit HS)
Darrion is a man that shouldn’t be left open on the 3-point line, dropping five 3-pointers in the first half of his first game. Darrion then showed his ability to attack the basket and create shots for himself in the second half of the game.
Jordan Williams 6’7 2014 (Murrieta Valley HS)
Jordan Williams is another big man whose presence was known under the basket. Williams was not afraid to play defense and bang bodies. Jordan Williams pulled down several key rebounds in all of his games, and quickly made it down to the offensive end to execute a post move. Williams also showed a midrange game, knocking down a few jump shots with ease. If Williams can master the post moves, there is no doubt he will become a dominant player for the county.
Jamal Smith 6’2 2015 (Rancho Verde HS)
Smith was quick with the trigger from the 3-point line knocking down several big shots, whether it is off the dribble or wide open.
Elijah Hill 6’4 2015 (Loma Linda)
Elijah crashed boards and even knocked down some long range threes. Who said big man can’t shoot?
Chris Seeley 6’6 2016 (Roosevelt HS)
Seeley showed his athleticism this weekend with his ability to shot midrange, run effecting pick and rolls, and even throw down a few slams.
Isaiah McCullough 6’3 2015 (Damien HS)
Isaiah proved to be a valuable athlete to his team, high-scoring wing is an athletic scorer, who plays with high energy that plays hard on the defensive end.
Ronald McQuay 6’4 2017 (JW North HS)
Ronald showcased his ability to crash the boards and fight for rebounds, creating quick transition plays for his team.
Michael Taylor 6’4 2016 (Elsinore HS)
Michael Taylor was a solid defender for the day, pulling down more rebounds than anyone else for the weekend. Taylor quickly made his way up and down the court, grabbing both offensive and defensive rebounds in his games on Sunday.
Elijah McCullough 6’1 2018
Elijah is a promising 8th grader in the county. Showing he’s not afraid to play with the big kids, Elijah may become a dominant player in the county in the coming years.
CJ Clark 6’0 2016 (JW North HS)
CJ crashed boards like a big man, hit threes like a shooting guard, and drove to the hoop like a power forward.
