Phoenix, AZ – The 7th Annual ELITE 8 IN THE DESERT by Chad Groth and Area Codes Basketball. This event featured 35 teams in three divisions. As always this event is held over Mother’s Day Weekend (May 9-11) and we thank everyone that has supported the ELITE 8.

Directed by Groth, over 550 players participated in the ELITE 8 In The Desert with teams from Sacramento, Los Angeles area, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tucson and Phoenix.

This is Arizona’s most competitive tournament of the year, college coaches attended from DII, NAIA and Junior Colleges from all over, as well as the Pangos All-American Camp and Las Vegas FAB 48 director Dinos Trigonis of www.fullctpress.net giving players exposure in front of one of the nations top scouts in grassroots basketball.

Ronnie Flores, one of the guru’s behind the Boost Mobile ELITE 24 game, ESPN and Cal-Hi Sports was also evaluating and scouts games at the ELITE 8 in the Desert all weekend.

Chris Karpman of Arizona State Rivals and Gregg Rosenberg of Arizonavarsity.com also watched several games over the weekend in the 17U ELITE Division. Ron Coleman of Southwest Showcase and Rivals was also in several gyms looking for talent to evaluate and helped with the organization of the ELITE 8.

I must say thanks to Jeff Rutter and Brad Rogers of Arizona Christian University for the hospitality and John Hoebbe for the operations at ACU as well.
